ANWIL concluded a sponsorship agreement with Katarzyna Kowalska - 11-fold Polish champion in 3000m steeplechase. Hence, an ORLEN Group company from Włocławek, will accompany the prize-winning athlete in the upcoming Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
In the same year, in which ANWIL celebrates its 50 anniversary, it surprised greatly sport enthusiasts. At first, in appreciation of good performance of the Włocławek Basketball Club on the national fields, in the recently ended season, it decided to increase the amount of money contributed to the Włocławek’s Rottweilers, and now it took under its wings a contestant of the Vectra Włocławek club, a Włocławek’s citizen and specialist in 3000m steeplechase - Katarzyna Kowalska.
"ANWIL is like a business card of Włocławek. Nonetheless our company wishes to be recognised not only on the business map, but also on cultural and sports map of the city. That is the reason why we have been a strategic sponsor of Włocławek’s basketball team uninterruptedly for 19 seasons. Now we have decided to support financially also Katarzyna Kowalska, who might be the first Włocławek’s citizen to win a golden Olympic medal," says the Director for Communication and Marketing in ANWIL, Paweł Wochowski.
"I am very glad that ANWIL signed a sponsorship contract with me, thanks to which I will have necessary conditions ensured not only to comfortably prepare for my performance in Rio the Janeiro, but also in the second half of the Olympic year. Of course, I will do my best to fight for the trophies during the championships in Brazil", marked Katarzyna Kowalska.
Since the beginning of the Olympic season, Katarzyna Kowalska has been showing an exquisite shape. Her successes this year she started during the Sportisimo Prague Half Marathon, where she broke the Polish record with an excellent time of 1:10:06. This result currently ranks her on the second place in Europe. A subsequent start, in the prestigious Virgin Money London Marathon confirmed her qualification for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. During the 92nd Polish Senior Championships in athletics, which took place between 24–16.06.2016 in Bydgoszcz, she won her 11th Polish champion title in a 3000m steeplechase in a row, and moreover — the gold medal in the 5000m run.
For the last stage of preparations preceding the Olympics, Katarzyna Kowalska will go for a month-long alpine training camp in Iten, Kenya.
