The Wloclawek-based company of the ORLEN group – in connection with the fertilizer investment, has concluded a contract today for the construction of an ancillary infrastructure. The aim of the project is to increase ANWIL's production capacity in this area by 50% in 2022 and to extend the product offer by four types of fertilizers.
- One of our strategic objectives is to expand the competence of the ORLEN Group in the area of petrochemicals, in order to strengthen our market position in the long term. Production of fertilizers is one of the segments in which we want to specialize by improving the quality of our offer. In this way, we will significantly increase the possibilities of ANWIL’s operation from the ORLEN Group in a competitive fertilizers’ market, while building the potential of the Polish economy – said Daniel Obajtek, President of the Management Board of PKN ORLEN.
The contract for the construction of the ancillary infrastructure, the so-called OSBL ( Outside Battery Limits), which includes design works, as well as construction and assembly works related to the project of expanding the capacity of fertilizers production, was concluded by ANWIL with Prochem. The signed document is one of the three most important contracts related to this key development project for the Wloclawek-based company.
- The contract signed today, for the construction of ancillary infrastructure, completes the stage of selecting key contractors for ANWIL’s project of expanding the capacity of fertilizers production. This is, of course, a milestone in the realisation of our investment. However, we still have a number of them ahead of us, and all this in order to provide Polish farmers in 2022 with access to increased amounts of domestic nitrogen fertilizers, including coarse nitrate, ammonium nitrate sulphate, sulphur nitro-chalk and magnesium nitro-chalk with improved granule properties – said Agnieszka Żyro, President of the Management Board of ANWIL.
At the end of June 2019, ANWIL concluded a contract with Tecnimont S.p.A. for the design, delivery and turnkey construction of a granulation installation. Its average capacity will be about 1,500 tons per day (depending on the type of fertilizer) and it will allow the simultaneous production of a wide range of products differing mainly in nitrogen and sulphur content. At the end of April 2019, ANWIL signed an agreement with thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions AG, which will be responsible for the construction of nitric acid installations with a capacity of almost 1,300 tons per day and a neutralization installation with a capacity of 1,200 tons per day.
The commissioning of the third fertilizer plant by the Wloclawek-based company in mid-2022 will increase its production capacity from 966 thousand tonnes to 1,461 thousand tonnes annually. The assumed total cost of ANWIL's production capacity expansion investment amounts to approximately 1.3 billion PLN. It is expected that after the completion of the project, the operating EBITDA profit of the chemical company may increase by about 57 million EUR per year.
