The Włocławek-based company from ORLEN Group has signed a contract for the construction of a mechanical granulation plant, which is the second of the three most important agreements to be concluded as part of the expansion of ANWIL's production capacity in the area of fertilizers. The effect of the ongoing works will be the increase of its production capacity by about 50 percent and the extension of the product offer by four types of fertilizers.
The contract for design, supply and turnkey construction of the granulation plant has been granted to Tecnimont S.p.A., large-scale EPC contractor of Italian Maire Tecnimont Group. This is the second of the three most important contracts to be concluded within the framework of the project, which is of strategic importance for the development of the company.
The first one was signed by the Wloclawek-based company at the end of April 2019 with thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions AG, which will be responsible for the construction of nitric acid installations with a capacity of almost 1,300 tons per day and neutralization with a capacity of 1,200 tons per day. On 22 May 2019, the foundation stone for this part of the investment was laid.
The last contract will concern the construction of ancillary installations.
The granulation plant will have an average capacity of about 1,500 tons per day (depending on the type of fertilizer) and will allow the simultaneous production of a wide range of products differing mainly in nitrogen and sulphur content.
ANWIL has selected mechanical granulation technology that will enable the company to expand its product range to include coarse nitrate, ammonium nitrate, nitro-chalk with sulphur and nitro-chalk with magnesium of the improved granule properties.
The commissioning of the third fertilizer installation by ANWIL will increase the company's production capacity from 966 thousand tonnes to 1,461 thousand tonnes annually. The assumed total cost of the investment involving the expansion of the production capacity in the Włocławek-based company is about PLN 1.3 billion, and its completion is planned by mid-2022. It is estimated that after the realisation of the project, the operating EBITDA profit of ANWIL S.A. may increase by about EUR 57 million annually.
